Our Teacher standard

New Teachers enter our ‘clan” when they posess 2 things; sheer skill* and knowing how to pass it on.

Teaching for other schools.

If one wants to sail through recruitment processes other than ours; one has to produce a current working with children check and AMEB grade 8 (Distinction). That’s it!!!

*Working for us

Having a grade 8 on your resume only tells us that you can read music but tells us little about your overall musicality and nothing about your personality.

The ability to read english – while very important- doesn’t make anyone special in typical jobs so why should music be different? At Musicoholics Anonymous, we like to know more about our teachers before we trust them with our reputation. Here are some qualities that only a true “Musicoholic” would posess …..

  • Being a good person (which directly affects musicianship)
  • Being reliable
  • Being a good Listener
  • Patience
  • Humility
  • Addiction to music (that one is hardly a quality)

What else?

All our teachers are not only active on the giging scene but also on high demand. They have all the skill and experience in applying it to the “real world”. These artists are expected to learn large volumes of songs in small amounts of time. This makes them very strong at..

  • Reading music
  • Composition
  • Advanced Music theory
  • and of course playing music
